The Leadership Course

Ten months setting the foundation for a lifetime of leadership.

The Leadership Course is designed to form Christ like leaders. This is leadership that emphasizes the importance of serving, kindness, humility and character. It’s leadership that focuses on relationship with God and is the overflow of a love for Him. It’s leadership that is willing to lay aside reputation, comfort and self in order to build something that is lasting, eternal and matters in the Kingdom of God.

The Leadership Course is for anyone between the ages of 18-24 who feels the call of God on their life to serve His people. The heart behind Soul61 is that we learn together, grow together and see God move together. You don’t do this journey alone but with others who have a similar calling. This is an opportunity to learn and grow rather than gain a qualification.

What

What?

What

What?

You will be developing your leadership skills at the heart of Soul Survivor. Joining one of two streams, focussing on either worship or leadership. You will be involved in church life, various conferences and events. Each week you will have two days of teaching with the rest of the course. You will be thrown in at the deep end, stretched and tested by things you may not have experienced before.

Teaching

Each week on the leadership course is different but one of the things that stays the same each week is teaching. Two days a week, you will have teaching on a variety of topics from leaders in many areas around the church, such as Andy Croft, Mike Pilavachi, Ali Martin, Jeannie Morgan, Chris Lane, David Westlake, Graham Cray and Mark Greene.

A number of modules will be covered throughout the ten months these include: an overview of the Bible; Introduction to the New Testament; communication; leadership; praying and ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit and apologetics. Don't worry if studying is something that you struglle with! The teaching is intended to be robust and of the highest quality but our hope is that it will set your heart on fire, not just give you a headache!

Streams

The streams are where we learn by doing! This will take place over two days a week. We have two streams to choose from Leadership and Worship.

If you feel called to leadership but aren’t sure yet what form it may take, the Leadership Stream is for you! It will be within the areas of the ministry of Soul Survivor such as youth, outreach, social action, media, evangelism, kids, and community work. Within this stream you will specialise in areas you feel you want to explore with one of a wide variety of areas you can be involved with.

The Worship Stream is for you if you feel called to lead people into worship. We want to develop your gifting, sensitivity to the Spirit and desire to meet with God. There will be loads of time given to being creative, writing songs, and improving your musical ability. Throughout the course there will be opportunities to lead worship and much of the training you will receive will be very practical. This is certainly not an invitation to lead worship on the main stage at Soul Survivor but is a chance for you to grow, be stretched and trained.

Trips

Throughout the course there will be the opportunity to go on an overseas ministry trip with Mike. These trips are an incredible opportunity to see what God is doing through His Church around the world. Over the past few years students have travelled to New Zealand, Holland, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, California and Canada.

During each trip there are loads of opportunities to serve the Church, mainly through serving at various conferences that Mike speaks at. This can be anything from praying for people to getting down and dirty making the conference happen. The experience of seeing God at work in other contexts is invaluable as we reflect on how God might want to move in our locality. Mike will also most likely take you to some of his favourite restaurants.

The Details

The basic course cost for our 2017-2018 course will be £6500 which will cover your accommodation, bills, and course materials. This will need to be paid in one sum in the middle of September 2017.

Alongside this one lump sum you will also need money to live off throughout the course, we advise around £70 per week, which works out at around £3000 for the whole course. (This side of the finances we leave entirely in your hands – you don’t need to have it all in advance. Unfortunately because the course is full time you won’t have time to get a job during the course.)

We do realise that these figures are daunting! Please let us assure you that we are doing everything we can to keep the cost to an absolute minimum. We’re not making a profit out of the course and will do everything we can to help you make ends meet. The huge majority of what you pay is simply what it costs to live in Watford for 10 months; the course fee itself is minimal.

If you have any further questions hit the FAQs button and hopefully all your questions will be answered.
